Confidentiality is something I deem to be foundational to the work. I would only have to break confidentiality in situations where the safety of yourself or others is at risk. Before we start therapy I will go through this is more detail and share our contract for you to review and sign.

Each session is 50 minutes long.

I work with clients for both short-term periods as well as long-term open-ended work. How long we work together is a very individual thing. It is something that we can discuss in the initial session but it maybe that you don’t know at the beginning how many sessions you will want, so it is something that we can continue to check in about as the process unfolds.

I practice from two centres:

I also offer some online zoom sessions.

I am a qualified integrative therapist with a Diploma from one of Europe’s foremost institutes for integrative counselling and psychotherapy, The Minster Centre.
I am also completing an MA in Integrative Psychotherapy at The Minster Centre.
I am BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) registered (MBACP) and I am bound by the BACP Code of Ethics.
During training, I was required to undertake highly supervised clinical work and placements in counselling and mental health services.
I am fully insured and my work is regularly supervised.

Yes, I do work online, but if your schedule allows it, I recommend meeting in person as often you can get more from the experience.
If it's not possible for you to meet in person, we can find a time to meet online when you know that you can find a private place to be.
-
The first step is to get in touch with me via my online form, or directly via email (emmalrtherapy@gmail.com) so that we can organise an initial meeting.
This is better done in person so you will have the opportunity to experience what I am like and how I work to see if we are a good fit. We can also talk about what brought you to therapy, and any questions about the process itself.

The relationship between the therapist and client is important to the work, so you want to feel as though I am someone you could imagine building a genuine trusting relationship with over the course of our work together.
There can be circumstances when I may feel that another therapist or service would be better equipped to work with you. If that is the case, I would clearly explain my reasons for this, and support you to take the next step.
